The Lee County Department of Transportation reminds Pine Island residents that sidewalk improvements began Monday, June 29, along Stringfellow Road. This project includes the removal and replacement of sidewalk panels in areas where cracking and concrete deterioration have occurred. Construction crews will begin on the south side of Stringfellow Road near St. James City and progress north as work advances. The project schedule will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m, Monday through Saturday. Pedestrians and bicyclists should expect to see intermittent sidewalk closures and are encouraged to follow posted signage.
