35 students receive scholarships from Bobby Holloway Memorial Foundation
The Bobby Holloway Memorial Foundation celebrated the achievements of 35 deserving students during its annual scholarship dinner held on June 10.
Family members, community supporters, scholarship recipients and foundation board members gathered to recognize the hard work and dedication of students pursuing their educational goals.
Since 2004, the Bobby Holloway Memorial Foundation has awarded scholarships to Pine Island residents and former Pine Island students seeking to further their education.
Through the generosity of the community and the success of the annual Bobby Holloway Fishing Tournament, the foundation has provided financial assistance to hundreds of students as they pursue college degrees, technical certifications, and continuing education opportunities.
The evening began with a special presentation from Kobe Johnson alongside his coach, Carl Burnside, Jr., and his mom, Jackie Johnson, who thanked the Bobby Holloway Board of Directors for its contributions and support of the Dunbar High School Track and Field program. Johnson shared highlights of his athletic accomplishments and expressed gratitude for the opportunities made possible through community support.
Throughout the evening, scholarship recipients were recognized for their academic achievements, perseverance and commitment to their future goals. Many students are pursuing careers in education, healthcare, business, trades and other fields that will positively impact their communities.
Members of the Bobby Holloway Board reflected on the foundation’s mission of investing in local students and helping them achieve their dreams. What began as a tribute to Bobby Holloway has grown into a lasting community tradition, providing opportunities for generations of island students.
The annual Bobby Holloway Fishing Tournament remains the foundation’s primary fundraiser, with proceeds directly supporting scholarship awards each year. The continued success of the tournament and the generosity of sponsors, volunteers, anglers, and community members ensure that the foundation can continue its mission for years to come.
As the evening concluded, recipients were encouraged to continue working toward their goals, embrace new opportunities, and remember the community that believes in their success. The Bobby Holloway Memorial Foundation looks forward to continuing its tradition of supporting local students and celebrating educational achievement for many years to come.
