Commission approves Burnt Store Road safety improvements

The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted Tuesday to approve a project authorization to add safety improvements to a stretch of Burnt Store Road from Delilah Drive north about five miles to Vincent Avenue. The improvements include: • Four-foot-wide paved shoulders on both sides of the road • New right and left turn lanes at Caloosa Parkway • Rumble stripes on the edge of pavement and center lines • Required guardrail, roadway signs and pavement markings The $3 million agreement is a new task work order to an existing contract with Ajax Paving Industries of Florida LLC, which was the lowest competitive bid.
