GPIA raffling off $20,000 camper

The Greater Pine Island Alliance is holding a fundraising raffle a Forest River Wildwood X-Lite camper — a $20,000 value. In addition to the camper, a bonus E-bike raffle is also available. Tickets are $20 each and with the purchase of five tickets, participants will be entered in the drawing for the E-bike. The drawing for the raffle will be held Sunday, March 15, at Kickstands Pub & Grub’s St. Patrick’s Day Bash. The event runs from 1-5 p.m. The winner does not need to be present to win. Overnight lane closure scheduled on Little Pine Island Bridge

MATLACHA – An overnight lane closure will be in effect on the Little Pine Island Bridge beginning Thursday, March 12, at approximately 8 p.m. This lane closure is anticipated to continue through 5 a.m. Friday, March 13. During this time crews will begin striping operations on the bridge. Flaggers will be present on sight to direct traffic. The bridge reconstruction will deliver long-term improvements to the transportation infrastructure serving Pine Island and the surrounding communities. Calusa Land Trust work/fun party Saturday at Chapin Preserve

The Calusa Land Trust’s monthly work/fun party will be held Saturday, March 14, at the Chapin Preserve beginning at 9 a.m. The preserve was named in honor of the uniquely famous Ed Chapin, who died in 2024 after dedicating nearly 50 years of service to the land trust. This 91-acre preserve is located at the terminus of Royal Okley Lane (Stringfellow Road to Harbor Drive to Mannheim Road and then follow the signs.)
