To the editor:
Post 136 would like to take this opportunity to thank ALL those involved with the success of the parade and fireworks on July 4. From those in the parade, the beautiful floats, the ones who worked the parade lineup, the sheriff officers working the traffic, all the volunteers who helped with the parade route, those who worked the fireworks that night and those who helped with the cleanup the following day.
We could not think of a better way spending our nation’s 250th birthday than with the community, family and friends on Pine Island. The American Legion has been proud sponsors of the Independence Day events in the past and have always appreciated the support we have received from businesses, fire department, Sheriff’s Office and individuals who offer us their support. It was truly an honor watching the crowd come together showing respect for the flag, applauding and reaching for the treats thrown to them from the floats.
