Pine Island Boat Club enjoys Green Flash

The Pine Island Boat Club, led by Rosemary and Peter Henry, recently ran six boats over to the Green Flash for a fun (funny) and delightful lunch. The Green Flash was very accommodating, and club members will come back again. The weather has been cooperating lately, and April was a busy month with four activities for the members. Commission approves Burnt Store Road safety improvements

The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted Tuesday to approve a project authorization to add safety improvements to a stretch of Burnt Store Road from Delilah Drive north about five miles to Vincent Avenue. The improvements include: • Four-foot-wide paved shoulders on both sides of the road • New right and left turn lanes at Caloosa Parkway • Rumble stripes on the edge of pavement and center lines • Required guardrail, roadway signs and pavement markings The $3 million agreement is a new task work order to an existing contract with Ajax Paving Industries of Florida LLC, which was the lowest competitive bid. The Lee Health Bloodmobile will be visiting The Pine Island Moose Lodge at 8903 Stringfellow Road in St. James City on Saturday, May 30, from 8 a.m. to noon.  At Lee Health, donated blood goes to help save the lives of patients at your community-owned hospitals:  Lee Memorial Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center, Golisano Children’s Hospital of SW Florida, Gulf Coast Medical Center and Cape Coral Hospital.  In addition to the five hospitals, our blood center also services the Level II Trauma Center at Lee Memorial Hospital and the Regional Cancer Center at the Sanctuary.
