St. John’s to celebrate the life of Sharon Herpers April 11

On Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m., St. John’s Episcopal Church will hold a celebration of life for former member and Pine Island seasonal resident Sharon Herpers, who passed away on Feb. 10, 2026. A Eucharist Service will be followed by a gathering in St. John’s Comfort Hall for friends and family.  Herpers was an active member of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Minnetonka, Minnesota, for almost 60 years, as well as St. John’s Episcopal Church on Pine Island and Epiphany Episcopal Church in Cape Coral.  She was kind, generous and loving. Pasta dinner fundraiser for Lisa Dence to be held April 15

A pasta dinner fundraiser for Pine Island resident Lisa Dence will be held Wednesday, April 15, at the St. James Civic Center. Dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m.; eat-in or carry-out. Tickets are $20 and available in advance from Julie Robbers at (239) 744-9767 or at the door. Dence is the owner of Salty Girls Cafe in Bokeelia. She has been experiencing some serious medical issues and is unable to return to work. This is a severe hardship for Dence and her family.   Dence has been a generous and accommodating member of the Pine Island community for many years, whether lending her previous Olde Fish House location for island fundraisers such as the Matlacha Hookers ...
