Matlacha Hookers’ Island Luau Sunday
The Matlacha Hookers will once again bring island spirit to Pine Island with the 14th Annual Island Luau, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 22, from 1–5 p.m., at the St. James City Civic Center. The popular 21-and-over fundraiser benefits Beacon of Hope Senior Programs and is one of the island’s most anticipated annual events. The Island Luau combines tropical entertainment with a strong local mission. Calusa Land Trust to celebrate 50th anniversary with free picnic for island community
In recognition of its 50th Anniversary, the Calusa Land Trust is hosting a celebration picnic for the entire Pine Island community. This event will be held Saturday, March 7, from noon to 3 p.m., at its Fritts Park (off Beach Daisy Lane in Bokeelia). The free event’s luncheon and soft beverages will be enhanced with live music presented by BROTHER LOVE, kids activities, 50/50 drawings, CLT merchandise and the opportunity join the land trust and its island preservation spirit.
