Church’s next chicken dinner to be held Jan. 10

The Church of God of Prophecy will hold its next chicken dinner Jan.10. The dinner will be takeout only, no dine in. The price is $10 per dinner — chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn or green beans, dinner roll and dessert. Chicken is fried in peanut oil. Gluten free and baked chicken available upon request. Museum of the Islands invites public to annual Holiday Open House this Saturday

The Museum of the Islands will be having its annual Holiday Open House this Saturday Dec 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendor spaces sold out quickly so this is sure to be a wonderful event. Admission is free and the public is invited. Islanders and guests can shop for Christmas gifts and decorations made by local crafters. The museum gift shop has a wide selection of books, jewelry, cards,and ornaments, plus its exclusive Pine Island afghans. The museum is located at 5728 Sesame Drive in Bokeelia (beside the library). The Pine Island Library invites the public to participate in its upcoming Winter Book Club series, featuring three engaging sessions in January, February and March. Each discussion will be moderated by Branch Manager Jackie McGuire, who will guide conversation, answer questions and encourage readers to share their insights. Boaters welcome to participate in Matlacha Holiday Lighted Boat Parade Dec. 14

The Matlacha Holiday Lighted Boat Parade will be held Sunday, Dec. 14. Boats should gather on the south side of the Matlacha bridge at 5:30 p.m., and the parade will begin at 6 p.m. The best viewing is from the bridge or along the shores of Matlacha — but please respect private property. After going under the bridge, the boats will proceed north along the east shoreline of Matlacha, around the top, down the west side and return. No registration is necessary, all boaters are welcome to participate, and those not boating are encouraged to come out and watch.
