Lee County Parks & Recreation is inviting community members to share their favorite memories from past fairs and Southwest Florida Ag Expos as part of a special photo exhibit celebrating this year’s theme, “Roots ‘n’ Rides: A Celebration of Tradition.” With friends and families gathering for the Thanksgiving holiday, take a moment to revisit family photo albums or scroll through your phone to find favorite photos. Pine Island Elks accepting entries for Americanism Essay Contest

The Greater Pine Island Elks Lodge 2781 invites students in grades 5-8 to join the 2025-2026 Grand Lodge Americanism Essay Contest. This year’s theme is “What Does Service to Your Country Mean To You?” The contest encourages young people to think about what citizenship and patriotism mean to them. The contest has four divisions for each grade level, and the Elks will give awards for the best essays in each group. The process starts at the local lodge, moves to district and state competitions and culminates in the national winners being announced at the Grand Lodge Session in Chicago in July 2026. County Parks & Rec Department to host 2026 Lee County Senior Games Jan. 23 to March 29

Lee County Parks & Recreation welcomes all senior athletes to participate in the 2026 Lee County Senior Games, which feature social, recreational and competitive activities. Registration is open at www.leeparks.org/register or call 239-533-7275. Registration is $15 per event. Participants must be 50 years or older by Dec. 31, 2026, and qualifying event top finishers will be eligible to compete at the state level in the 2026 Florida Senior Games.
