The Museum of the Islands will be having its annual Holiday Open House this Saturday Dec 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendor spaces sold out quickly so this is sure to be a wonderful event. The Matlacha Holiday Lighted Boat Parade will be held Sunday, Dec. 14. Boats should gather on the south side of the Matlacha bridge at 5:30 p.m., and the parade will begin at 6 p.m. The best viewing is from the bridge or along the shores of Matlacha — but please respect private property. After going under the bridge, the boats will proceed north along the east shoreline of Matlacha, around the top, down the west side and return. No registration is necessary, all boaters are welcome to participate, and those not boating are encouraged to come out and watch.
