St. John’s to celebrate the life of Sharon Herpers April 11
On Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m., St. John’s Episcopal Church will hold a celebration of life for former member and Pine Island seasonal resident Sharon Herpers, who passed away on Feb. 10, 2026. A Eucharist Service will be followed by a gathering in St. John’s Comfort Hall for friends and family. Herpers was an active member of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Minnetonka, Minnesota, for almost 60 years, as well as St. John’s Episcopal Church on Pine Island and Epiphany Episcopal Church in Cape Coral. Join members of the Calusa Land Trust and Florida Fish and Wildlife at the Wigert-Barron Preserve on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to noon for a free, family friendly event all about gopher tortoises. CLT will debut a StoryWalk featuring children’s’ book, “Gus the Gopher Tortoise” by Thomas Kibalo at the Wigert-Barron Preserve in Bokeelia. The Calusa Waterkeeper Quarterly Meeting will be held Saturday, April 11, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Florida Southwest University. The meeting is free and open to the public.
