Celebrate of life for Sharon Harper Saturday
This Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m., there will be a celebration of life for former member and Pine Island seasonal resident Sharon Herpers, who passed away on Feb. 10, 2026. A Eucharist Service will be followed by a gathering in St. John’s Comfort Hall for friends and family. Herpers was an active member of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Minnetonka, Minnesota, for almost 60 years, as well as St. John’s Episcopal Church on Pine Island and Epiphany Episcopal Church in Cape Coral. Pine Island Potters Guild’s season-ending show Saturday
The Pine Island Potter’s Guild will hold its end-of-season show Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the courtyard of Koucky Studios. This season-ending show also honors the age-old tradition of Spring Cleaning! Many of the artists and artisans will delve into the corners of their studios to find hidden treasures to offer at this event, along with their newest works. This April tradition was passed on to the guild by Chuck and Nancy Koucky, who have honored this age-old ritual since they opened their studio in 2001. Friends of the Pine Island Library collecting books for annual sales
Are you packing up to go back North? Are you spring cleaning? Do you have books, puzzles, games, DVDs, that you are ready to get rid of? The Friends of the Pine Island Library would gladly take them off your hands. The Friends are planning two book sales next year and would love to have islanders donations to sell. Go ahead and mark your calendars now, Dec. 11, 2026. and Feb. 5, 2027. Eagle Book Club service project underway
One goal of the Eagle Book Club is to share the love of reading to others. In that spirit, the club is hoping Pine Island Elementary students can create bookmarks for the Pine Island Public Library to distribute to their patrons in January in hopes of spreading the love of reading throughout the community. Students can design bookmarks using a template provided. Let Mendy Nelson know if teachers are interested in having their students participate in this activity and they will receive a packet of blank bookmarks.
