This Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, the Greater Pine Island Civic Association will once again join forces with the Pine Island Garden Club and the Calusa Land Trust to show Pine Island some love during a special pine tree giveaway.
The giveaway, which will be held at the Pine Island Garden Club public garden on Park Lane from 1-4 p.m., next to the tennis courts at the center, will provide longleaf pine seedlings to Island residents to help repopulate Pine Island with native trees lost due to the stress and subsequent beetle infestation from hurricanes Ian, Helene and Milton.
The cost is free, though canned good donations for local food banks are encouraged.

A Friends of Cayo Costa gathering will be held Sunday, Feb. 1, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., at Tarpon Lodge.
Islanders are invited to come share your stories of visiting Cayo Costa, get a park update, VIPS update and enjoy a great sunset.
The cost is $25 for current Friends Of Cayo Costa members, $35 for future friends. Space is limited and reservations are required.
