Island fire district to host Annual Open House

The Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District will host its Annual Open House on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Station 1 in Bokeelia.
The Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District invites the community to its Annual Open House from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Station 1, at 5700 Pine Island Road, Bokeelia.
Attendees will enjoy a pumpkin patch, fire apparatus tours, a ladder truck demonstration, a safety trailer, face painting, games, refreshments, and more — all free of charge.
The district reported the Open House is an opportunity for residents to meet their local firefighters, learn about fire safety, and celebrate the people who help protect and serve the Pine Island community.
“Everyone is welcome to join in the fun and celebrate the strong community spirit that makes Pine Island such a special place to call home,” Fire Chief Ben Mickuleit said.
