The Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island will hold its first-ever Chili & Trees event Saturday, Dec. 13, from 4:30-7:30 p.m., at Street Eatz & Ale.
This new holiday celebration brings together two local favorites — delicious chili and festive Christmas trees — for an evening of food, fun and community spirit. Attendees can enter their best chili recipe to compete for the title of Best Island Chili, with winners chosen by popular vote.
Meanwhile, each Pine Island Elemen-tary Classroom will showcase a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, available for attendees to bid on in a festive holiday auction.

The Church of God of Prophecy will be having Thanksgiving dinner Thursday, Nov. 27. Dinner will be takeout only, no dine in.
The price is $10 per dinner — turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn or green beans, dinner roll and dessert — pumpkin, pecan or apple pie.

The Museum of the Islands Annual Open House will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 5728 Sesame Drive, Bokeelia, on Pine Island. This year marks MOT I’s 35th anniversary.
There will be free admission to the museum, local vendors, music and fun on the museum’s grounds.
Normal hours at the museum or 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday. The museum is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children.

A local non-profit organization, comprised of those who have sons and daughters who serve or have served in the military, guard or reserves, is looking to the public to help decorate veteran graves next month.
The Blue Star Mothers Gulf Coast Florida Chapter 12, which represent Lee and Collier counties, will place wreaths on the graves of veterans at local cemeteries as part of Wreaths Across America Day Saturday, Dec. 13.
Members of the public can purchase a wreath to be placed on a specific grave (local or non-local), or just sponsor a wreath to be placed at a veteran grave.
