MATLACHA, Fla. – The planned concrete operations on the Little Pine Island Bridge have been postponed due to weather conditions, according to a report from the Florida Department of Transportation. An announcement will be made when the concrete operations have been rescheduled. Household chemical waste collection Saturday at Phillips Park

Pine Island and Matlacha residents will be able to safely and responsibly dispose of household chemical waste, such as leftover paints, cleaners, herbicides, pesticides, automotive fluids and pool chemicals, on Saturday, Nov.15. Public hearing set for new county Animal Control ordinance

Lee County will hold a public hearing next month as it looks to replace its current Animal Control Ordinance. The Lee County Board of County Commissioners will conduct the hearing at its regular meeting set for Dec. 2 at 9:30 a.m. According to county officials, the proposed ordinance repeals and replaces the existing ordinance and provides comprehensive changes to rules related to Animal Control and Services, including adding a mandatory one-day hold for cats, ferrets and other small mammals lacking identification.
