You may remember Heika from previous columns. What I didn’t mention is her friend Chounard (Nardo). Their former owner passed away and between depression and age (13 years), they couldn’t handle shelter life and stopped eating. To save their lives and help them through the changes, we moved both cats  into a foster home. While there, we noticed the cats weren’t bonded so we thought we might have a better chance of getting them adopted separately. Nardo is a Maine Coon mix who likes people food a bit too much and Heika the princess is quiet and keeps to herself preferring to watch out a window. They are doing much better, and have started spending more time together. If you are interested in one or both cats, please give us a call Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary at 239-283-9100 and we will set up a time to meet these beautiful kitties. To donate, our address is 10060 Mallory Parkway E, Unit D, St. James City, FL, 33956, or there’s always our website www.helpingpawsanimalsanctuary.com.
