Editorial failed to acknowledge that times have changed

To the editor:

Since no one took credit for the “Eagle Editorial” in the Opinions section titled “When will they ever learn,” I don’t know who to address this “concerned subscriber” letter to. When we, the public, submit a letter for the opinion section, we are required to identify ourselves by name and the name is included in the article if it is printed. Why does that “rule” not apply to whomever wrote this piece?

The writer wrote about many hurtful events from the distant past and tried to draw a close tie to those events of the present concerning the radical protests we are witnessing in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

In none of those events mentioned did we have citizens ramming law enforcement vehicles with their own use of deadly force in an attempt to prevent them from doing their jobs.

We did not have a statewide leadership overseeing billions of federal tax dollars being fraudulently pilfered from the coffers of that state with willful collusion on the part of the elected officials in the same state where the protests are taking place.

We did not have elected officials violating federal laws by opening up our southern border and inviting mass illegal immigration into the fabric of our country in an insidious attempt to “gerrymander” our Census to allow more representation in those states whose resources and welfare systems were being pushed to the brink of extinction.

And, while many citizens may have looked at the hippies of the ’60s as socialists or even communists, we did not have a major political party, through their radical rhetoric literally supporting anarchy, turning against the laws of our land in focused violent confrontations against law enforcement that are simply carrying out their official duties.

It seems to me since this letter will never see the light of day unless I submit it with my name on it that the Breeze, and its sister paper, the Pine Island Eagle, should require the same of their “Editorial” contributions.
