Earl A Scott, 78, of St James City died after a 3 year battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer on Saturday, September 7, 2019 in Hope Hospice. He was born in Syracuse, NY on December 16,1940 to Thelma (Lossa-Moore) and Jack Scott, who both preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Paddock) Scott. Earl and Mary were married in Remsen, NY on May 1,1976. His children, from a previous marriage, are Robert (Karolyn) Scott, Heather (R Micheal) Lawrence, and Stephanie Scott. Grandchildren are Ryan Scott, Courtney Scott (deceased), Kathryn Scott, Nolan Lawrence and Sophia Lawrence. Great-Grandchildren are Damien Scott, Ryden Scott and Calum Scott. Earl is survived by a brother Archie Scott and 1 niece and 2 nephews.

Earl retired in 1994 from Niagara Mohawk (now National Grid) in Syracuse, NY with over 25 years of service with them. Earl and Mary moved to St James City in 1995. Earl had his own business for a while and then worked for the Lee County School District in maintenance. He retired from the Lee County School System after 6 years of employment.

Earl was an avid gardener and long time member of the Pine Island Garden Club, traveler and cook. He and Mary were 2 of the original founders of the non-profit From Our Hearts, a Breast Cancer organization that covers Pine Island. Earl was always thinking on how to raise money and in 2004 he came up with the idea of a 5K walk to raise money for From Our Hearts. This walk is still ongoing to this day. Earl will be remembered for his smile and all of his stories about his life and travels with his beloved wife Mary.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 22, 2019 at Pine Island Cove Clubhouse. Time to be determined.
