William Joseph (Joe) Porthouse

William Joseph (Joe) Porthouse died peacefully on May 18, 2019 in Cape Coral, FL. He was 83.
Mr. Porthouse was born on July 29, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY to his parents, Thomas and Anne Porthouse. He was a graduate from the Brooklyn Technical / Navy Training Program in 1956. He married Marilyn Planding in 1962. The Porthouses moved to Lake Grove, Long Island, NY where William worked as a machinist for the US Navy at Sands Point/Long Island in New York. He transferred to the Winter Park, FL US Naval Training Center in 1967 as the manager of the prototype shops. He retired in 1992, landing in Bokeelia, FL and dedicated his remaining time to family, fishing, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Mr Porthouse is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Porthouse of Bokeelia, FL; his son William Porthouse Jr and daughter-in-law Katrina Porthouse of Oviedo, FL; his son Christopher Porthouse of Bokeelia, FL; his daughter Catherine Porthouse and son-in-law Frederick Sinclair of Destrehan, LA; his sister Marilyn Avery of Simpsonville, SC; and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Emmett Porthouse.
On July 20 at 11:00 am a mass will be held on Pine Island, Florida for Mr. Porthouse at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, followed by a 12:30 Celebration of Life at Capt’n Con’s Fish House in Bokeelia.
