Demetrius O’Neal gets two life sentences in Club Blu shooting case
One of the defendants in the 2016 Club Blu mass shooting has received two life sentences plus 15 years for his role in the case.
Demetrius O’Neal was found guilty on two counts of second-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder for his role in the shooting in Fort Myers on July 25, 2016. O’Neal was 19 years old at the time of the shooting.
Eighteen-year-old Stefan Strawder and 14-year-old Sean Archilles were shot to death while 14 others were injured outside the former club off Evans Avenue on an under-18 night. Gunfire rang out as soon as the teens were stepping into the parking lot as the club closed. One witness said they heard about 100 shots fired, a release from the State Attorney’s Office stated.
O’Neal was convicted in October. Assistant State Attorneys Sara Miller and Leena Marcos, of the State Attorney’s Office Homicide Unit, prosecuted the case.
Ultimately five people were arrested and charged in the case. One defendant still has a pending case.
