Beacon of Hope offering free financial advising session today
The Beacon of Hope is offering a free financial advising session for any island resident in need of assistance with household budgeting, retirement planning and additional services from 5-6 p.m., Wednesday July 22, at the Beacon of Hope Center of Excellence classroom, 5090 Doug Taylor Circle, St. James City.
The event will be hosted by financial advisor Becky Durling and is an open-house drop-in format so residents can come for individualized assistance. This is a low-key format; residents do not need to bring financial information for the one-on-one discussions. No advanced signup is necessary.
The July 22 event is the second in a series of free financial consultation events sponsored by Beacon of Hope to help island residents plan better for the future. The events will take place on the third Wednesday of each month at the same time and place. If you cannot make July’s, come to the Aug event.

Three free art classes remain at Beacon
The Beacon of Hope Pine Islands offering free Art Classes for seniors 55 and older at the Beacon of Hope Center of Excellence classroom at 5090 Doug Taylor Circle, St. James City.
The classes will be hosted by local artist from ere on the Island
The July event is the second in a series of free art classes offered to local islanders.
The Beacon schedule includes:
• Wednesday, July 22 – Jan: Flamingo Friends Canvas Painting (1-3 p.m.)
• Monday, July 27 – Grandparents Paint & Story Time with Deanna Evans (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
• Wednesday, July 29 – Create with Ashley Johnson (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
