Next month’s roster of activities at the Pine Island Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following programs are free to the public.

 

Adult Programs

Shark Week Guided Canvas Painting

2 p.m., Saturday, July 11

Using step-by-step instruction, create a beautiful painting of a shark in an underwater scene. All materials provided. Dress for mess, as paints may stain. Registration is required.

 

Children’s Programs

Comedy Magic Show by Cesar Domico

2 p.m., Tuesday, July 7

Enjoy a fun and amazing summer reading magic show presented by Cesar Domico. Laughter full of illusions await.

 

Preschool Program: Travel Fun

with Little Racers

10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 9

Zip and zoom around the storytime room with toy cars and handmade racetracks. For children ages 2-5 years.

 

Jacki Manna and the Comedy Crew

2 p.m., Tuesday, July 14

Enjoy a zany and humorous show featuring interactive fun and audience participation with magician and ventriloquist Jacki Manna. This summer reading program will have you laughing for days.

 

Preschool Playdate: Water Fun

with Aqua Doodles

10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 16

Preschoolers will explore Aqua Doodle mats, watercolor painting and sink or float activities. We will also enjoy a story, songs and crafts.

 

Do You Dig It? with FPAN

2 p.m., Tuesday, July 21

Children will love digging into the fascinating history of pottery hosted by the Florida Public Archaeology Network. Participate in hands-on experiments with Play-Doh or air-dry clay to delve into the art and science of pottery making and decoration techniques. This summer reading program also explores how pottery serves as a crucial tool for archaeologists to unravel the stories of past cultures. Registration is not required but space is limited.

 

Discover Mollusks on the Move

10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 23

Join an educator from the Bailey Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium for a reading of “Are You A Snail?” and learn all about the lives of these little mollusks. Afterward, paint your own wooden snail and meet a live mollusk from the museum in this fun-filled summer reading program.

 

Teen Programs

Dragon Vision Art

2 p.m., Wednesday, July 8

Guided by local artist, Mrs. M of icancreateart, hone your drawing skills by creating a zoomed-in, textured view of a dragon’s eye using pens, markers and watercolors.

 

Dig It! Teen Drama

2 p.m., Wednesday, July 15

Using theater games, improv and fun challenges, teens “discover” characters and moments to create short scenes. Act out scenarios in a playful, low-pressure space and have fun in this summer reading program. No experience needed. Registration is not required but space is limited.

 

Teen Trivia

2 p.m., Wednesday, July 22

Who will win? Challenge your friends to a game of trivia during this summer reading program designed just for teens. Stay afterward and play board games, video games or make a cool science experiment or a fun craft. Light refreshments will be provided.
