Next month’s roster of activities at the Pine Island Public Library offers topics for all ages.
The following programs are free to the public.
Adult Programs
Pine Island Summer Reading Kickoff Party
1 p.m., Saturday, June 6
The party is starting and you’re invited. You will have a roaring good time as we Unearth a Story at our summer reading kickoff. Join Way Too Tall Torrie for amazing balloon art. Insane Conez will be on-site for you to purchase sweet treats and library staff will be available to help you sign up for this year’s summer reading program. After you sign up, don’t forget to pick out your free book for children and teens, while supplies last.
Punch Needle Art for Adults
2 p.m., Saturday, June 13
Create your very own coaster using punch needle, a form of fiber art. All materials provided. Registration is required.
Fossil Recovery Exploration
with Chris Mandell
Noon, Friday, June 26
Learn all about fossils of Southwest Florida in this fun summer reading program with Chris Mandell, owner of Fossil Recovery. Registration is required.

Big Stories, Big Science with IMAG
2 p.m., Tuesday, June 9
IMAG joins the library for a fiery summer reading program. Get ready for a messy, hair-raising, explosive, freezing and thrilling show. Watch IMAG create colorful fireballs, ignite giant Whoosh Tubes, light bubbles on fire in their hands, erupt a giant bubbling Nitrogen cloud, create arcs of lightning with their Van de Graff Machine and more.
Family Storytime: Dinosaurs Roar
10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 11
For children through age 5 years with caregiver. Enjoy books, rhymes, songs and activities. This fun and engaging program offers kids a chance to make friends and build skills through stories, music and movement. Caregivers participate with their children while learning helpful early literacy strategies and tips to continue at home.
Adam’s Animal Encounters:
Reptiles Revealed
2 p.m., Tuesday, June 16
Discover and learn about exotic animals in this engaging summer reading program with Adam’s Animal Encounters. Get an up-close perspective on wildlife management, rescue and conservation efforts in our area. Registration is not required for the program, but space is limited.
Learn, Play & Grow With Healthy Start of SWFL
10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 18
Join us for our Learn, Play and Grow summer reading program in partnership with Healthy Start of SWFL. Free developmental screenings are offered for children ages 2 months-5 years. Your child can enjoy crafts, books, toys and games that help them learn and grow while parents can ask questions and receive helpful resources.
Mr. Glen and the Readers of the Lost Book
2 p.m., Tuesday, June 23
Join Mr. Glen on his quest to repair a childhood storybook where the pages have been strewn throughout the world. Learn about fossils, landforms, geology, and earth’s place in the galaxy. Using simple machines, we will solve problems and reveal the locations of each missing page in this adventurous summer reading program.
A Royal Storytime
10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 25
For children through age 5 years. Experience magical moments at our royal storytime. This enchanting summer reading program is filled with fun. Participants will listen to stories, sing songs and take part in princess and knight training to become royalty.

Unearthed Art Cards
2 p.m., Wednesday, June 17
Join us for a mini art workshop with local artist Jeff Ocasio of Ocasiocasa. Jeff will demonstrate his sculptural techniques with masking tape, and each student will get to create their own sculpted art trading cards in this creative summer reading program. No registration is required, but space is limited.
Game On: Teen Edition
2 p.m., Wednesday, June 24
Bring your friends or make some new ones at this fun summer reading program. Spend the afternoon playing a variety of board games and video games or get creative with rock painting and sand art. Light refreshments will be provided.
