Lee DOT announces island roadway projects
• Pine Island Road Resurfacing from West of Matlacha Drawbridge to East of Little Pine Island Bridge:
This project will include standard milling and paving operations from west of the Matlacha Drawbridge to east of Little Pine Island Bridge. Paving is anticipated to begin approximately on the evening of Tuesday, April 28. Paving operations will be done on night shifts only. No work will be done on Friday or Saturday.
During paving operations, one lane will remain open with flagging personnel on site to direct motorists through the work zone. This work is expected to take approximately one week to complete.

• Matlacha Drawbridge:
Work on the Matlacha Mechanical and Electrical Repair project commenced on Aug. 25, 2025, and will be ongoing until late June 2026. Workers will be intermittently present on the site but may not be seen for extended periods of time as work is required inside the tender house.
While on site, motorists can expect to encounter construction workers and vehicles on the roadway, as well as deliveries and the removal of old equipment from the bridge.
