Pine Island Elementary recently received a vibrant and welcoming upgrade thanks to the hard work and dedication of its Kiwanis K-Kids.

As part of a beautification project, students transformed the entrance leading to the cafeteria by designing and planting eight large concrete pots with beautiful plants, creating a warm and inviting pathway for guests attending special events on campus.

The project was more than just an aesthetic improvement — it was a hands-on lesson in cooperation, teamwork and responsibility. Students worked together to plan, plant and arrange the pots, taking pride in contributing something meaningful to their school community. Their effort and enthusiasm were evident every step of the way, showcasing the positive impact of student-led service initiatives.

This project would not have been possible without the generous support of community partners. Special thanks go to Home Depot, the Bobby Holloway Foundation, Angela and Mike Rigsby — who contributed in honor and memory of her father, Doug Maynard, and the Pine Island Elementary CPTO for their donations and encouragement.

The beautified entrance now stands as a lasting symbol of student collaboration and community spirit, welcoming all who visit Pine Island Elementary with color, care and pride.
