St. John’s Episcopal Church to hold Zentangle art class Monday

2 min read

This Monday, March 23, from 1-4 p.m., Mary Ragains will lead the third art class in the series of butterfly paintings at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Butterflies are a symbol of hope, transformation, love and reassurance, often appearing at difficult or transitional times to remind us that we can receive new life and spiritual change from struggle (caterpillar) to beauty (butterfly).

In this class, you’ll not only learn a new skill, create a piece of art for yourself using the Zentangle method, but also create a gift for a resident of Brookdale Senior Living in Cape Coral. Over the past few years, St. John’s Episcopal Church women have served Brookdale residents by sending birthday, holiday, get-well and thinking-of-you cards. They have also delivered cookies, paper flower arrangements, prayer shawls and Christmas gifts to the residents.

The Zentangle method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured, repetitive patterns (tangles), created with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves and orbs. It is a meditative art form fostering focus and calm (zen).

The cost of the class is $30, and all supplies are included. For tickets, please contact Mary by phone or text at (616) 340-6862 or email her at mary-tom@comcast.net.

St. John Episcopal’s, purpose is to “love God, follow Christ and serve others.” The church is active in and contributed to many Pine Island organizations to meet the needs of the island community.
