The FRIENDS of the Pine Island Library’s Historic Bike Ride of the south end of Pine Island will be held this Friday, March 13.

The event will begin at the library at 9 a.m. with a presentation on the history of the library provided by Branch Manager Jackie McGuire.

Then the participating bikers will head south on the Stringfellow Road sidewalk toward the St. James City end of the island. The entire ride will be approximately 20 miles.

Wait… If that’s too much for you to ride, there is an alternate starting point. Those wishing to take the shorter bicycle trip should be at the American Legion Post parking lot by about 9:45 a.m. and the group will join you there.

The ride will then go throughout the St. James City community

Don’t forget to wear your helmet. If you don’t have a helmet or bike, contact Island Bikeworks at (239) 560-0320 and they can help you out.

To register, please call or text Mel at (224) 330-7193.

A $20 donation will put you in this fun group and help offset the $3,200 the FRIENDS of the Library provides to the Summer Reading Program on Pine Island.

This is the second historic FRIENDS bike ride of the season. The first was to the northern part of the island.
