The public is invited to enter the annual Southwest Florida writing contest, now open for submissions. This is the only regular writing competition sponsored by Gulf Coast Writers Association of Fort Myers. The competition is open to writers worldwide.

Three categories of writing are included: Fiction, Non-Fiction and Poetry. Nearly $1,000 in prize money will be awarded. First place in each category wins $200 and publication on the Gulf Coast Writers website. Second and third place entries also win cash prizes.

All winners receive an elegantly calligraphed personalized certificate as a memento of the award.

The contest will remain open for submissions until March 15. Full instructions can be found on the GCWA website. Writers should be assured that judging is blind. Judges do not know the identity of any author who enters.

GCWA especially encourages entries from the Southwest Florida area. As proven by the numerous acclaimed authors nearby, the region provides plenty of inspiration for stories, essays and poetry. Gulf Coast Writers is eager to receive creative input from neighbors near and far.
