First-ever Kiwanis K-Kids Club launched at Pine Island Elementary
Pine Island Elementary recently celebrated an exciting milestone with the launch of its very first Kiwanis K-Kids Club, bringing together students who are eager to serve others and make a positive difference right here in the Pine Island community.
The club’s second meeting featured a special visit from members Cheryl King, Kathy Weinberger and Carroll Garland of the Pine Island Garden Club, who partnered with students to discuss the K-Kids Club’s first beautification project for the school campus. Garden Club members shared ideas and inspiration, encouraging students to take pride in their surroundings and play an active role in caring for their school. The collaboration highlighted the strong sense of community that Pine Island is known for.
Students then took part in their first official election of officers, selecting classmates to serve as president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and sergeant at arms. The election gave students a meaningful opportunity to practice leadership, responsibility and teamwork while learning how organizations work.
The K-Kids Club is made up of a group of twenty-two students who are already showing the qualities of future leaders. With a focus on service, kindness and community involvement, these students are ready to represent their school and Pine Island with pride.
The school and K-Kids extend thank yous to Bobby Holloway Jr. Memorial Foundation, Pine Island Elementary PTO and Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island for their support and generous donations, which were instrumental in getting this club off the ground.
If other island organizations would like to support this club please contact any of the following K-Kids Advisors: Cindy Bickford, Steve Hook, Angela Rigsby, Summer Dooley, Mary Ann Rone or Principal Michael Galbreath.
As the K-Kids Club begins its journey, Pine Island Elementary looks forward to the many projects, partnerships, and positive impacts these students will bring to their school and the Pine Island community.
