The Cape Coral Tarpon Hunters Club will hold its annual “Learn to Catch the Silver King” public meeting Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m., at the Lake Kennedy Center, 400 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral.

The meeting is an introductory public presentation for prospective members. The presentation is free and open to the public and guests will learn the history of the Cape club — the largest tarpon fishing club in the world — and gain knowledge about tarpon — the “silver king.”

The club, which promotes ethical tarpon catch-and-release fishing, is entering its 55th season and its members have caught over 10,000 tarpon.

Future Tarpon Hunters meetings will offer detailed instruction on such topics as rod/reel selection selection, terminal tackle rigging, bait prep and on-water etiquette necessary to get your name in the club’s record books.

The monthly meetings also offer members the opportunity to interact with world-class tarpon fishermen and women and feature presentations on tarpon fishing techniques for local waters.
