Legion Post to host annual chili/cornbread cook-off event this Saturday
Competition to help raise funds for scholarships for island students
The American Legion will have its annual chili/cornbread cook-off fundraiser this Saturday, Jan. 10. Those wishing to enter the contest should drop off their entrees by noon Saturday.
The taste testing and judging fee charge is $5.
The cook-off will start at 4 p.m. after the legion’s Saturday “Show Me the Money” event.
A sign-up sheet is located at the post. There’s no charge for entering your prize chili and cornbread in the contest.
Prizes for the top three winners in each category.
Islanders are invited to bring their taste buds and get ready to do some sampling. Judge the event and help donate to the post Scholarship Fund. Last year the Legion gave out five scholarships to our Pine Island youths for those attending college or trade schools.
American Legion Post 136 is at 4106 Stringfellow Road, St. James City.
