Pine Island Potters’ Guild Holiday Show and Sale Saturday
The Pine Island Potters’ Guild will hold its Holiday Show and Sale, taking place in the courtyard at Koucky Studios, Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 am to 2 pm.
For this show and sale, Koucky’s courtyard transforms into a magical realm of creativity, featuring a captivating array of handmade treasures, perfect for delighting loved ones or indulging yourself this holiday season.
Explore the creations by guild artisans, including beautiful pottery, jewelry, paintings, prints, note cards and literary gems by local authors. Discover a variety of holiday-themed gifts, tropical home décor, woodworking, luscious jams, sauces and local honey, and ready-to-wear art. Fresh-baked goods are available, offering a perfect snack or a tasty complement to any meal.
For the December event, the guild will host author Robert Macomber. He will be offering the opportunity for guests to purchase personalized signed editions of his works.
Additional features of this month’s show:
• Potter and woodcarver Floyd Cornett will demonstrate his woodcarving skills. Watch chips fly and the magic happen!
• From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., enjoy the lively music of the Fiddler and I.
• At 11 a.m., potter Chuck Koucky, and some of his students will demonstrate the art of firing horsehair pottery. The random lines and patterns, the signature of this style, are created when applying strands of hair from a horse’s mane or tail onto the surface of a hot raku clay pot that has just been removed from the kiln. No two pieces are ever the same on these beautiful and unique pots.
For those in expanding their artistic skills, Koucky offers pottery classes for all levels. Please speak with Koucky about his class schedule. You can also take a self-guided tour of the pottery studio and inquire about year-round classes.
