Lee County operations adjust schedules for the holidays
Most Lee County administrative operations will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday, as well as Thursday, Dec. 31, and Friday, Jan. 1, for the New Year’s holiday.
The holiday schedule adjustments:
Solid Waste
• Collections of garbage, recycling and yard waste will continue as normal on Wednesday, Dec. 24. There will be no collections on Thursday, Dec. 25, and collections will continue with typical Thursday collections happening on Friday, typical Friday collections on Saturday and so on.
• Solid Waste offices will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26.
• The Resource Recovery Facility in Buckingham and the Lee-Hendry Landfill will be open regular hours Wednesday, Dec. 24, but closed on Thursday, Dec. 25.
• The Labelle and Clewiston transfer stations will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 25.

Christmas trees that have had the stand, lights and decorations removed, including tinsel, can be set out with regular yard waste to be ground into mulch. As a reminder, plastic toys, ribbons, bows, metallic and plastic wrapping paper and batteries should not be placed in recycle carts. Batteries should be brought to Lee County’s Household Chemical Waste Facility located at 6441 Topaz Court, Fort Myers. Community Development
• The Community Development office, including first and second floor lobbies and telephone services, will be closed noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18. The application portal will remain open during this closure.
• Offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26, and Thursday, Jan. 1, and Friday, Jan. 2.
• The electronic permitting portal will remain open during the closures. Visit www.leegov.com/dcd.
Utilities
• The Call Center and the drive-thru window at 7391 College Parkway are closed Thursday, Dec. 25, Friday, Dec. 26, Thursday, Jan. 1, and Friday, Jan. 2.
• A drop-box is on-site at the front door, and another is accessible via the drive-thru for payments by check.
• Payments can be made at any time at https://myutilities.leegov.com or 1-855-895-6939.
LeeTran
• LeeTran will operate its regularly scheduled bus service on Wednesday, Dec. 24. There will be no bus, trolley, beach tram, ADA Passport or ULTRA on-demand services on Thursday, Dec. 25. Service will resume on Friday, Dec. 26. Visit rideleetran.com for specific route information.

Parks & Recreation
• Beaches, boat ramps, parks and preserves will remain open Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26.
• The administration office will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26. Normal hours resume Monday, Dec. 29.
• Pools are closed Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26, resuming normal operating hours Saturday, Dec. 27.
• Beaches, boat ramps, parks and preserves will be open Thursday, Jan. 1, and Friday, Jan. 2.
• The administration office will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, and Friday, Jan. 2, resuming normal operating hours Monday, Jan. 5.
• Pools are closed Thursday, Jan. 1, and Friday, Jan. 2, resuming normal operating hours Saturday, Jan. 3.
• The county’s four recreation centers – North Fort Myers, Veterans, Wa-Ke Hatchee and Estero – will be closed through the holidays due to scheduled annual maintenance. They will be closed from Dec. 22 to Jan. 4. For alternative parks sites, visit www.leeparks.org. The centers will re-open Monday, Jan. 5.
Library System
• All branches will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25. Normal hours of operation resume Friday, Dec. 26.

• Home Borrower Services and Library Administration will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25, Friday, Dec. 26, Thursday, Jan. 1, and Friday, Jan. 2.

Lee County Domestic Animal Services
• The Lost & Found Pet Center and the Pet Adoption Center will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26. Normal hours resume Saturday, Dec. 27, at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers.
