American Flood Protection System co-owner Ed Kreise said when he and his business partner, co-owner Tim Ackley, thought about why they’d started the company, what was most important to them was helping people to keep water out of their homes.

After Hurricane Ian, they found themselves personally and emotionally invested in the fight against floodwaters, a hurricane symptom of tremendous harm.

“We both had water throughout our houses,” Kreise said.

Having been well versed in the construction industry, in addition to both partners having had their own business, leaves the American Flood Protection System owners very certain they’re in the right place. Products made in the United States are the only products their company uses, and they both feel that is a main concern for them, in fact, the products they use are not only made in the U.S.A. but fabricated on Pine Island.

“We make them right on Pine Island, and they’re made to fit your house. They are impact rated to 170 miles per hour Miami-Dade certified. It’s the best money can buy — it’s a multi wall panel, encased in aluminum that is all welded — there are no screws — there is no other product but aluminum and stainless steel, ” Kreise said, adding that once installation is complete, all panels can be put in place by the customer’s own hands.

Ackley stressed that some companies that offer flood systems, will not cover additions that have been put on the house, leaving them basically unprotected, as water is still able to get in to that area. This makes no sense to him, he said, as the product itself is sold to protect homeowners.

“We will not take a job if we cannot guarantee that we can keep the water out,” Ackley said.

Both partners feel a tremendous responsibility to help those who have gone through a similar storm experience as to what they both have. A tragedy, they feel, is that folks will become unconcerned, after a storm season without storms, although that’s always welcome.

“I don’t want people to get complacent, because then they’re going to wait until the last minute, and then a storm that was maybe on the way, just may hit without the time needed to prepare for it,” Kreise said, emphasizing that the products offered by American Flood Protection System are custom made for each home, and run approximately 3 weeks from the time of measuring and deposit to installation.
