Pine Island Elementary celebrates the fall season
Laughter, creativity and a love for reading filled the air as Pine Island Elementary held its annual Storybook Parade and Pumpkin Decorating Event, bringing students, families and staff together for a festive fall celebration.
Students arrived at school dressed as their favorite storybook characters, from classic fairytale figures to modern-day literary heroes. Cheered on by proud parents and staff members, they paraded through the school hallways showing off their costumes and sharing their favorite books with others.
“The Storybook Parade is one of our favorite traditions,” said Dr. Michael Galbreath, Pine Island Elementary’s principal. “It encourages a love of reading while giving students a chance to express their creativity and imagination.”
During the parade, families gathered to admire the storybook pumpkins created at home. Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes were transformed into everything from book characters to animal creatures, using paint, glitter, and other craft materials.
“It’s wonderful to see the kids so excited about reading and creating,” said Mrs. Nelson the reading coach at P.I.E. “Events like this make school fun and memorable.”
The school thanks all the Pine Island Firefighter volunteers, families, and staff who made the event a success. With smiles all round, it was a day to remember — celebrating stories, seasonal fun, and the joy of community.
Congratulations to the following staff and students:
n Best Staff Costume was awarded to Christine Bartz (kindergarten teacher) who dressed up as “Anna” from the movie “Frozen.”
