Pre-enrollment underway for Lee County schools
Pre-enrollment is currently being held for those students who are new to the School District of Lee County for the 2026-2027 school year.
The advance registration is open to any incoming student who is entering kindergarten next year, moving from a private, or charter school, previously enrolled students moving back into the district, or relocating to the school district from another county or state.
To allow students to attend schools closer to home, as well as ease transportation issues for the school district, proximity plans for elementary and middle schools have been implemented. There is no proximity plan for high schools.
The proximity plan compressed zones, taking a three-zone choice assignment lottery to much smaller zones. The enrollment zones range from one school to five schools to choose from for elementary school depending on residence.
The zones for Cape Coral include Zone A – Hector A Cafferata Jr. Elementary School, Patriot Elementary School, Skyline Elementary School and Trafalgar Elementary School; Zone B – Caloosa Elementary School, Diplomat Elementary School, Hancock Creek Elementary School, Littleton Elementary School and Tropical Isles Elementary School; Zone C – Bayshore Elementary School, J. Colin English Elementary School and North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts; Zone F – Cape Elementary School, Gulf Elementary School and Pelican Elementary School
The middle school enrollment zones range from one school to three schools to choose from. Those zones for Cape Coral include Zone AA – Challenger Middle School and Mariner Middle School, Zone BB – Gulf Middle School and Trafalgar Middle School and Zone CC Caloosa Middle School, Diplomat Middle School and North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts.
Notification will be sent to parents enrolling, or re-enrolling in January, so they can submit their School Choice Application to Student Enrollment. This will enable the district to preplace siblings, with both a common parent and common address, in the same school for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
Parents now have the ability to complete the enrollment process online through the district’s FOCUS Parent Portal on www.leeschools.net, which provides step-by-step instructions.
Parents can email studentenrollment@leeschools.net, or make an appointment with the district Student Enrollment Office in person through https://www.leeschools.net.
To pre-register, a copy of a parent photo ID, birth certificate, as well as health examination within 12 months prior to registration is required. A physical is required for kindergarten registration. Other forms include the DH680-Florida Certificate of Immunization, which can be obtained for free at Lee County Health Department, 3920 Michigan Ave., Fort Myers by making an appointment by calling (239) 461-6100. A Social Security card is optional, proof of address, and custody documents are required if applicable. High school students will need transcripts.
