Captain Crotty retiring

Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Department Capt. Richard Crotty will retire at the end of the month after serving the residents on Pine Island for 25 years. Before becoming a firefighter for the department, he volunteered for three or four years. Crotty was the captain of the department for 13 years. “What he expects of people, he also expects of himself,” Fire Chief David Bradley said during the ceremony last week. “He is very conscious of the job.”
