United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades and the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels scored a big win for the 90 partner agencies and more than 260 programs supported by United Way. Fans who attended the recent “United for a Cause” event at Hammond Stadium at the Lee Health Sports Complex were treated to an exciting Mighty Mussels game, but even more importantly, a portion of ticket sales from the game went to United Way to support their agencies and programs.

United Way’s campaign theme this year is “United is the Way,” and Mighty Mussels players wore custom Star Wars-themed jerseys that were auctioned off after the game to also benefit the nonprofit. The goal for the 2025-2026 annual campaign is $11,512,716.

Fans also had the opportunity to interact with Star Wars characters throughout the evening as the Mighty Mussels beat the Dunedin Blue Jays 9-2.

Sponsors for the event included Barraco & Associates, State Insurance USA, Sanibel Captiva Community Bank, McGriff Insurance and Mary Bartoshuk.
