Isn’t She Everything Salon opens on Pine Island
When Amanda Hull and Marietta Souza first met, they said they hit it off right away. Hull was a nail technician whose work is nothing short of artistry, according to Souza. It didn’t take long for the two to become friends before deciding to open a salon together.
“I came out to work on the island and I fell in love with it. I fell in love with the people,” Hull said.
Never having felt appreciated until she came out to Pine Island had much to do with Hull’s decision to stay on the island and also to open a salon with Souza.
Feeling as though they’d found their home did not come easy, said Souza, describing the hunt for the perfect future salon.
“It’s taken us a long time. We started the makeover back in July, and opened on April first,” Souza said.
Although the two admit there are still some kinks that need to be worked out, they agree they’ve found a home and couldn’t be happier in their new location. The goal, they said, is to give islanders a place to relax while having beauty services performed locally so that their clients don’t have to leave the island.
“We do amazing nails, and amazing nail-art. I can paint almost anything you want on your hands. I have taken classes in micro and macro art, so I can do anything on a small scale,” Hull said.
Lisa Winnicki is another nail tech at the salon who has been doing nails for 30 years, said Hull and Souza, adding that Winnicki gives the best pedicure they’ve ever had. Corey Crolley, who is a hair technician, already has many islander clients, said Souza.
Hull and Souza insist they are not only here to stay, but also to grow.
“We do not want to take over the island, however, we want to take over the island. We want to offer every service that you could ever possibly want. We’re not here because we want to take people’s money. We’re here because we don’t want people to have to drive off the island,” Hull said.
“Everything you want is right here,” Souza said, stressing that it’s all encompassed in the salon’s name, “Isn’t she everything.”
The salon also includes a small boutique with jewelry, purses and home décor.
