Celebration planned for Capt’n Cons’ 20th

Capt’n Cons is turning 20 years old on Dec. 1 and everyone is invited to celebrate! The owner, Luretta Sims, is hosting a barbecue cookout from 12-5 p.m.
“We will have pulled pork, chicken on the grill with all the fixings,” Sims said. “The price is $19.95 per couple or $10 for a single.”
Mobby Mann will be performing karaoke and if you would like to set up a tent (maximum size 10 feet x 10 feet) for crafts or arts, you are welcome.
“People will not need a permit because they will be covered under my special event permit,” Sims said. “Contact Luretta at 239-283-4300 or 239-282-1210 to reserve your spot for a tent.”
Sims started working at the Crab Shack for Gary and Regina Krivaks in 1987. Sims worked for them for 8 years. When the Krivaks decided to move their business, Sims was offered the opportunity to open her own business through Bonnie Citta, the daughter of the late Hugh “Conley” Clayton. Capt’n Cons is named after Clayton.
Capt’n Cons now offers outside seating with alcohol served in a fenced-in area.
“It was a long time coming, but we finally got there. The view of sunsets over Charlotte Harbor with a cold beer can’t be beat,” Sims said. “I hope everyone comes out to celebrate with us. Ten percent of the earnings will go to Pine island F.I.S.H. (Fellow islanders Sending Help).
“I want to thank everyone for their support over the last 20 years,” Sims said. “Without loyal customers and continued support, none of this would be possible.”
