The St. James City Christmas Boat Parade will return Saturday, Dec. 12, starting at 6 p.m.

Bringing a festive fleet of decorated boats to the community’s waterways, the route will begin at the Henley Canal, move on to the Cherry Canal and end on the Monroe Canal, past Low Key Tiki.

“The St. James City Christmas Boat Parade is a community holiday tradition that brings boaters, residents and visitors together for a festive display on the water,” organizers reported. “The event celebrates the creativity, community spirit and waterfront character of St. James City.”

This year’s theme is “Stars, Stripes and Santa Lights.”

In keeping with the theme, boaters are invited to participate by combining patriotic spirit with holiday cheer in celebration of the country’s 250th birthday.

Organizers reported that spectators can expect vessels decked out in red, white and blue and glowing stars this year, along with Santa-inspired displays and colorful Christmas lights.

Free to attend, residents and visitors are encouraged to gather along the parade route — from the shorelines, restaurants and canal-front areas — for an evening of holiday fun and waterfront celebration.

“We invite everyone to come down, enjoy the festivities and join in the holiday cheer,” organizers reported.
