The Lee County Community Band will open its 2026-27 concert season with a patriotic-themed performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, in the Mariner High School auditorium in Cape Coral.

“The American Journey, 1776-2026: Honoring 250 Years of Freedom and Service” will feature Fred Lamb, a longtime vocalist with The U.S. Army Band’s “Pershing’s Own” and the brother of Lee County Community Band Music Director Kathy Lamb Williams.

Honoring 250 years of freedom and service, the concert will celebrate America’s story through patriotic music, military tributes, classic marches, jazz, blues, popular favorites and audience sing-a-longs.

The program lineup will include: the “Star-Spangled Banner,” “America the Beautiful,” “American Soldier,” “American Fanfare,” “American Salute,” “Armed Services,” “Semper Fidelis,” “The Liberty Bell (March),” “Best of the West,” “In the Mood,” “St. Louis Blues,” “Pop and Rock Legends: Chicago,” “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” “This Is My Country,” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

The band extends a special invite to veterans, military families and veterans organizations.

The concert is free and open to the public; donations are welcome.

“Please join us as we honor America’s veterans and service members through music,” it reported.

For parking, look for signs at Chiquita Boulevard and Tropicana Parkway.

Under the direction of Williams, the Lee County Community Band is a 60-piece concert group made up of volunteers. It is continuing a musical tradition in Southwest Florida that began in 1885.
