Fellow Islanders Sending Help (FISH) of Pine Island has kicked off its Christmas Basket Brigade.

Presents for children up to age 17 are included in the initiative, so that all island youth have a wonderful holiday. This year’s distribution will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Pine Island United Methodist Church, at 5701 Pine Island Road, Bokeelia.

“The island does an amazing job of coming together to ensure a happy Christmas for its children,” FISH of Pine Island reported.

Pine Island Elementary School students recently received a paper copy of the registration form in their backpacks. For those who did not receive it or have a child not enrolled at the school who live on Pine Island or Matlacha, the form can be picked up at the Beacon of Hope, at 5090 Doug Taylor Circle, Saint James City, or the food pantry at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, at 12175 Stringfellow Road, Bokeelia. Families can also visit https://bit.ly/46HblwI?r=qr or scan the QR code.

Registration forms are due by Oct. 31.

“This due date allows us time to distribute children’s wishes, have sponsors shop and wrap, and organize for distribution,” FISH of Pine Island reported.

Those who wish to sponsor a child or organizations interested in having a tree with ornaments to sponsor children can contact 239-283-4442 or pifish4442@gmail.com for more information.
