The Collier County Democratic Party is planning a rally declaring its strong support for immigrants living in the United States. The rally will be Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon, starting at the Collier County Courthouse steps at 3315 Tamiami Trail E. in Naples and then marching to the Route 41/Airport-Pulling intersection.

Register for the rally on Mobilize.

“Immigrants are an essential part of the United States — they pay taxes, strengthen our economy, defend our country, and enrich our communities,” the organization stated in a press release. “They are our neighbors, our coworkers, and our friends. We demand that Donald Trump end his illegal and inhumane policies that tear apart families and divide our communities.”

The Collier County Democrats’ message is:

• Immigrants deserve legal due process.

• No more ICE kidnappings.

• Unmask ICE agents.

• Stop deporting people to countries they’ve never lived in.

• Close the ICE detention centers — the modern-day gulags.

• No ICE searches without warrants.

• ICE profiling is illegal and racist.

The party is also collecting nonperishable food items at the rally.

“With the loss of SNAP benefits, many families in our county are struggling with food insecurity, and your donations will go directly to Our Daily Bread providing support to families in Naples and Marco Island,” the release states. “Bringing food is another way we show that our compassion is stronger than cruelty — that we take care of one another.”

As with all Indivisible events, the Collier County Democrats’ are committed to nonviolent action. They expect every participant to remain peaceful and to help de-escalate any potential conflict with those who may disagree with their message.
