Intermittent traffic stops planned for on Little Pine Island Bridge starting Wednesday

MATLACHA, Fla. – Beginning Wednesday, March 4, at 9 a.m., motorists should expect intermittent traffic stops along the Little Pine Island Bridge as crews conduct concrete operations at various points on the structure. Heavy machinery will be moving throughout the bridge during this work. Flaggers will be on site to safely direct traffic through the area and coordinate temporary stops as equipment crosses the roadway. Drivers should anticipate delays and congestion and are urged to use caution while traveling through the work zone. Islander looks to recover after fire takes home, livelihood

On Sunday, Feb. 22, islander and commercial fisherman Steve Long endured a disastrous fire at his house, which he’d built with his own father. According to Pine Islander Anna Long, her father was out on one of his boats fishing at the time of the fire.
