2022 Pine Island Cal Ripkin Little League Baseball season begins

The Pine Island Little League has officially affiliated itself with the Cal Ripkin League for the 2022 spring season. The 2022 season held its opening day on Saturday, March 5, at Bobby Holloway Memorial Field.
The 2022 season is made up of two teams, the Shuckers and the Reds. The Shucker’s won the opening day game over the Reds by a 15-3 score. On Wednesday, March 9, the Shucker’s again defeated the Reds, but in a much closer contest; 6-5. Chase Tendrusiak was the winning pitcher for the Shucker’s, while Trey Clark had two hits for the Reds.
Wednesday, March 16 saw the Shucker’s win 10-8 over the Reds to push their undefeated record to 3-0. Carter Olsou started on the mound for the Shucker’s and pitched well, in picking up their win. Chase Tendrusiak pitched the last inning and picked up the save for the Shucker’s. Larin Potts started on the mound for the Reds. He was followed by Hunter Tendrusiak, then Trey Clark, who pitched two scoreless innings to keep the Reds in the game.
The Shucker’s are coached by Mike Tendrusiak, while the Red’s are coached by Kyle Potts.
With spring break here, the next game won’t be played until today, March 30, at 6 p.m., at Bobby Holloway Memorial Field, located at Phillips Park at 5675 Sesame Drive, Bokeelia, just west of the Center on Pine Island. Games are played every Wednesday at 6 p.m.
