Matlacha Hookers 18th Annual Fishing Tournament & Derby
The Matlacha Hookers 18th Annual Fishing Tournament & Derby is Sunday, Oct. 16, at The Olde Fish House Marina & Restaurant. All proceeds benefit Pine Island Elementary School.
Hookers Madam Lorie Tidwell would like to personally invite every Pine Island resident to join the fun.
“There will be games for the kids and drawings for bikes, as in the past, along with a free lunch,” Madam Tidwell said. “Once again there is a tournament T-shirt for the kids to paint. The sponsors for this year’s kids shirts are Total Payroll Management, Island Girl Fitness and Castaways Realty.”
The 4th and 5th graders will be fishing from 8-9:30 a.m.
The 2nd and 3rd graders will fish from 9:45-11:15 a.m.
The Kindergarten and 1st graders will fish from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Adult Anglers Tournament is from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., when the weigh-in begins. That will be followed by a presentation of the winners for the heaviest legal snook, redfish and trout. Total cash prizes equal $2,500.
Final registration is Saturday, Oct. 15, at Olde Fish House Marina, from noon til 6 p.m. The Captains’ Meeting follows immediately at 6 p.m.
Come enjoy a day of “Pine Island Style Fun” with 50/50 raffles, a Chinese auction, live music all day, homemade goodies and Holloway’s BBQ, kids’ activities and the Hookers’ largest ever silent auction!
Every child fishing the derby will receive a fishing pole to keep, tournament T-shirt, special goody bag, lunch and drinks and a day of making memories to last a lifetime.
