Pine Island Eagle

Robert Burns Nixon, 76, of Cape Coral passed away peacefully at home July 2, 2013. He was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., Nov. 18, 1936, to Margaret and Kenneth J. Nixon, now deceased.

He is predeceased by his loving sister, Ann Nixon Shea; and his twin brother, Kenneth J. Nixon, with whom he shared an everlasting and unbreakable bond.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Loraine (nee: Doney) Nixon; his cherished children, Sharon Nixon (Dave) Henry, Christine Nixon (T.R.) Gregory, Constance Nixon (Whitney) Leibow, Robert Calef, Jeanna Mastriano (John) Thiel and Erin Higley (Jeff) Fusco; his beautiful grandchildren, Spencer, Chad and Wesley Henry, Grace and Lucas Gregory, Shea and Eli Leibow, Alyssa and Grace Thiel, Chase Garrett, and Jackson and Carter Fusco; sister-in-law, Sheila Nixon; brother in-law, Tom Shea; and very special cousin George Donovan.

He served in the United States Army, and was a very successful and innovative businessman. He owned Olsten Employment Agency for 20 years in Providence, R.I. Upon moving to Cape Coral, he was able to follow his passion for gardening by owning Cape Nursery in Cape Coral and Easterday Nursery in Bokeelia for 16 years. He also opened a customized pottery and gift shop in Sarasota and Cape Coral.

If ever there were an angel that walked among us, it was my love. He made such an impact on so many peoples lives, in such a heartfelt way, because it came from his heart, a beautiful loving heart, which knew no boundaries.

Friends may visit from 12 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, Cape Coral. A mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, July 15, at St. Katharine Drexel Church in Cape Coral.
